Remember this famous Coca-Cola commercial (In Perfect Harmony) from 1971? The commercial is being re-produced here in Colorado and has a twist that won’t appeal to the food and beverage industry. “I’d like to buy the world a drink, that doesn’t cause DISEASE!” Have a listen to a sampling here. We love the idea! Although Dr. Jeff and Erynn aren’t ‘triple threats’ we plan to be in the cast for this great cause.
You’re probably thinking, “Yeah, but addressing sugary sweetened beverages alone misses the mark.” Indeed, there’s much to consider when it comes to the nutritional debacle, but remember that we need the small battles to help win the war that ultimately re-defines proper nutrition.

To accomplish our goal, we are doing a modern remake of one of the most recognized and classic 1970s soda adverts ever created. This updated version will star individuals who are currently affected with conditions related to a high-sugar diet such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, metabolic syndrome and tooth decay. The stars of the production will sing an updated version of the classic song from the advertisement in groups, creating an impactful and viral message.

Production is tentatively set for Sat. May 9th at Front Range Community College in Westminster, Colorado. Individuals interested in participating will be asked to donate four to five hours of their time on the film day. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Lumenati has partnered with the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), a non-profit consumer advocacy group, on an anti-sugary beverage campaign. The campaign hopes to spread awareness about the dangers associated with the over-consumption of sugar, particularly through sugary beverages. We are producing a video to continue the work of The Real Bears, a video (see below) that CSPI released a few years ago. Sugary beverages, particularly soda, have been marketed for years as promoting joy, happiness and unity for all. But, the normalization of these beverages has actually been detrimental to individuals’ health.
